Palanisamy is an uneducated man who hopes to marry a teacher; Sukanya is a teacher who agrees to marry him, but only if they can live in her home so she can care for her aging father.

The couple seems to be a good fit until their wedding night, when Palanisamy changes the terms of their agreement. He insists that they move to his hometown, without Sukanya's father, a move that angers her until she discovers what's behind his mysterious demands.
